Meir Shalev, who passed away last year, left behind an extraordinary cultural and spiritual legacy. In his widely acclaimed novels, translated into dozens of languages, he wove personal family stories into the historical narrative of the land, reshaping and at times dismantling the myth of Israeli settlement. His children’s books became cultural classics and continue to serve as a gateway into literature for new generations. Alongside his work, he left a rich archive of interviews, lectures, family documentation, and rare research notebooks, enabling his life story to be told in his own voice: a story of a man, a family, and a land intertwined.
