About

This film is political. Illegal. Clandestine. A dispatch from the other side of the new wall. “Politzek”- Russian slang for “political prisoner” -is a documentary that ventures into the heart of the well-oiled machinery that suppresses dissent in Putin’s Russia. It reveals a reality where thousands of citizens are sentenced to lengthy prison terms or exiled to remote gulags, simply for daring to speak their minds. The harrowing stories of Oleg Orlov, a Nobel laureate; Zhenya, a theater director who staged a protest play; and Arseny, a 14-year-old accused of terrorist activity after posting critical content on social media, prove that even under a brutal regime, the human spirit is not easily broken. This powerful and important film speaks to our responsibility to keep listening to those who see themselves as the true patriots – people who sacrifice their freedom to save what they believe in.
