About

In his music, French electronic composer Rone has always looked to nature for forms that deepen emotion and awaken new sensitivities. Then one day, something unexpected happened: sailors began sending him videos reporting a remarkable phenomenon. When they played his music on their boats, pods of dolphins would race after them, and whales would emerge from the depths, as if transfixed by the sounds. The discovery sent the musician on a voyage out into the ocean, accompanied by a team of marine biologists, to understand what it is about his rhythms and frequencies that strikes the right note in the ocean’s own language—all without disturbing the silence of the deep. Boasting an entrancing score and stunning underwater cinematography, the film is a tender encounter between empirical inquiry and artistic wonder, crossing the threshold of sound and, with it, the boundary between humans and those magnificent marine mammals.
