About
With the beginning of Russia’s military aggression in 2014 and the full-scale invasion in 2022, Ukraine’s ecology has deteriorated catastrophically. Burned forests, mined fields, poisoned rivers, flooded lands, and animals on the verge of extinction mark this destruction. Divia, named after the Slavic goddess of nature, portrays the conflict between nature and war in three acts. First, nature exists in harmony without human presence. Then war erupts, violently reshaping landscapes through fire, explosions, and contamination. In the final act, deminers, ecologists, body searchers, and animal activists attempt to heal the land.
